Welcome to KittyGotWet Gaming Awards 2012. 2011 was a huge year. Not so much this year for the PS3, but the highlight for me was the release of PlayStation Vita.

Game of the Year: Rainbow Moon (PSN)
This game took me completely by surprise. It’s a 100+ hour platinum and I got this while being in a trophy competition so I planned to not play this as much as it would ruin the competition. I couldn’t. I played this game almost non-stop until I got the Plat and continued on afterwards. I haven’t played much games like this one, but there was something that just felt right with Rainbow Moon. I’m already looking forward to playing this again when it releases on PS Vita.

Best Multiplatform Game: Far Cry 3 (PS3)
Beautiful game world, great game play, when you’re not hunting pirates you can hunt animals. It has elements from Red Dead Redemption, but I like it even more here, as hunting animals are really useful in this game. The story is a bit cliche, but it is the game play and the game world that combines this into the best multiplatform game in 2012.

Best Handheld Game: Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Golden Abyss was great. It was Uncharted on handheld, and it also had some features that took advantage of the features of the Vita in a good way, with a few exceptions. I have completed this game 4 times already, which isn’t something I can say about a lot of games.

Most Anticipated Game of 2013: The Last of Us (PS3)
Naughty Dog is hands down my favorite developer. I remember when this game was teased a week before the reveal, I was a little bit interested. As soon as I saw the Naughty Dog logo, I knew this would be great. Everything since has just strengthened this feeling. I’m taking days off work when this releases. It’s going to be great.

2011 is soon coming to an end, and that means it’s time to give honor to the games that made 2011 a great year for gamers. I present to you, KittyGotWet Gaming Awards 2011.

Game of the Year: Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (PS3)

Drake’s Deception was my most anticipated game, and that means I came in with my expectations very high. Naughty Dog has never disappointed me before, and they didn’t do it this time either. Drake’s Deception delivers a complete package. It has a great story, and as invested in the characters as I am, it felt like an emotional roller coaster. The graphics are the best you get on consoles and the game play is top-notch. It also improved the online multiplayer, and no other game comes even close, in my opinion.

Runners-up: Resistance 3 and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

Best Multiplatform Game: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (PS3)

In most years, Revelations would have easily taken the GOTY award, but then there was Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3, my two favorite franchises released in the same year. Tough luck, but it only gives testament to what a great year this has been for gaming. Revelations didn’t have to many new additions. I liked the Den Defense mini-game, but it wasn’t something I would have missed. I liked how the Assassin’s mini-game was improved. What made this such a great game for me was the story and the great conclusion of the Ezio and Altair story lines. The multiplayer was not that good, but at least it was nice to try something different than the shooters out there.

Best Handheld Game: Jetpack Joyride (iOS)

Jetpack Joyride is a sidescrolling game where you guide Barry through dangers to get as far as possible. You grab coins, and sometimes get vehicles that are very different that you keep until you crash, serving as a change of pace and an extra life. To make it interesting you get a set of missions you have to do to get more money for upgrades and helpful items. There’s a level-up system and to get you to come back, each time you reach the max level you can prestige. You get a new badge every time. It’s really addicting and I’ve spent more than a day’s worth of time, playing this before I go to sleep.

Most Anticipated Game of 2012: Ruin [Working Title] (PS Vita/PS3)

Ruin is a dungeon crawler (think Diablo) that will use the cross-play feature between PS3 and Vita. You can chose between 3 classes and level up and collect loot. Each player will have their own lair that you can have monsters that defends it. When other players attack it, you can try to defend it. If you have a 3G enabled Vita you can be notified when someone attacks your lair. This is your queue to boot up the game and defend it. I literally can’t wait to get my hands on it.
