Constructing a Gameplan for 2011

With DC Universe Online coming out, I thought to myself it would be amazing with an MMO game on the PS3 other than DCUO. I tried the Beta and didn’t like it, but I want some alternatives and right now, their are none. It also got me thinking that I would probably not have time for a MMO game as this year is packed with other games to play. So here is me trying to figure out a gameplan for 2011. The release dates mentioned is for Europe btw.

January

LittleBigPlanet 2 – 19th
LittleBigPlanet was great and this time around, it will be more varied gameplay with different genres even. The community features will be stellar, especially with LBP.me where you can link your levels on Twitter, Facebook or on forums if you like and even queue up levels you find to play when you get back to your PS3. It’s gonna be great and if I want the Plat, I’m gonna have to set aside 24 hours of active create mode to get it. Not to fond of that, but at least I will try and make the most out of it. Looking forward to this game. Hope this will be good enough to get me away from GT5 for a little while.

Mass Effect 2 – 21st
While I may not get this right away, I’m curious about what all the fuzz is about this game. Not much I can say about this other than that I’m looking forward to try it out.

Dead Space 2 – 28th
I first hated Dead Space (did One Gun trophy on my first run), then started playing it again about a year after I bought it and loved it. It’s one of very few games that actually managed to scare the shit out of me (not literally). I hope this will be just as awesome.

March

Crysis 2 – 25th
This is another game I don’t know much about, except there was only a few PCs in the world that could run this when it came out. I’ve seen the graphics and that’s what have me intrigued about this one. If it gets good reviews, I may pick it up.

April
Ico /Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection – TBA
Just like Mass Effect 2 and Crysis 2, I don’t know much about these games either, but I know they have been raved about to no end. So this may be my first HD Collection. Two Plats for the prize of less than one isn’t bad either.

Quarter 2

Sorcery – TBA
This was the E3 winner for me. It completely surprised me and it was the game that convinced me that Move wouldn’t only be a gimmick (Sports Champions has later convinced me even more). There hasn’t been to much hype about it lately, but I’m sure that’s gonna pick up the pace closer to release. Day one for me.

Max Payne 3 – TBA
The PS2 games where awesome. The bullet time, the atmosphere and the hallucinations made it into a unique shooter. Hope this is just as good.

September

Resistance 3 – TBA
This franchise ranks as number 2 in favorite franchise and online multiplayer game, and considering the game that comes out two months later tops it in both categories, there is no time to waste when this is released. I love the way they have made an alternate story around the second world war. It does look like this game will take a different approach than the first two. Not only will you be a different character, but you won’t be a soldier either. Hope this game will scare the shit out of me (again, not literally).

NHL 12 – TBA
I always tell myself that I shall not buy the next NHL game, and then EA does something awesome that makes me change my mind. Having Resistance 3 being released in the same month may help me some what to hold off, but then there’s KittyGotWet, the EASHL team that I created with friends over at PS3Trophies.org that I want to continue with. Yup, I’m probably buying it again. It will also be my first shot at a Natural-Plat-Hat-Trick (3 Plats in a row within a franchise).

November

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – TBA
This is the franchise that trumps the Resistance franchise for me, and THIS is the game I’ve been waiting for. Not much is known at the time, but I have my full believe in Naughty Dog to produce yet another masterpiece.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – TBA
This may have to wait for a while because of Uncharted, but I have to mention it. I love both Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I just hope that this game will run smooth on the PS3. If it does, it’s probably gonna be a 10 out of 10 in my book. Looking forward to hunt some dragons.

Conclusion
At this time, I don’t see myself stopping to play Gran Turismo 5 anytime soon, and I’m curious as to what I will do when LittleBigPlanet 2 and the others start rolling out. And then there’s the games I haven’t mentioned. Dirt 3, L.A. Noire and the new Batman game. It is sure to be a packed year, not only by the amount of games, but also the amount of time that I will invest in each of them. I’m thinking about GT5 (still), Resistance 3, NHL 11 and most importantly, Uncharted 3. I feel sorry for my wallet. Beyond!

Sounds like a busy year, much like mine… The end of the year is going to be crazy though, as there are a ton of great games coming out!
