PlayStation Meeting 2013: PS4 Announcement

PlayStation 4 | Posted by Pesico
Feb 02 2013

On 0:00 CET on Friday February 1st, Sony released a teaser video in all their channels inviting fans to know the future of PlayStation on February 20th when they will hold a PlayStation Meeting 2013 as they call it in New York. Everything points to the reveal of the PlayStation 4. Last time Sony held a “PlayStation Meeting” was in 2011 in Japan where they announced the PlayStation Vita under the working title NGP. The event will be streamed live and both press and shareholders are invited.

If it is indeed a PlayStation 4 reveal, which is all but confirmed, what will Sony reveal? Not everything of course, as they want the main event at E3 2013. I’ve been following twitter for all it’s worth since it broke, here is what I think of the PlayStation 4.

Release date:
They’re using the hashtag #PlayStation2013. It leads me to believe that the PS4 will launch this year before christmas. Recent rumours sadly suggest that will only hold up in US and Japan. It points to an early 2014 release for Europe due to the challenges of releasing stuff over here. Wouldn’t be a surprise, but I would be disgusted if it is true this time to.

The Controller
Will the Dual Shock 3 work? Maybe, maybe not. There looks to be a new controller though, and it may have a similar look to the Dual Shock 3, but with a touchpad in place where the Select, Start and PlayStation buttons are located now, in a simlar fashion as the backtouch on the PS Vita. I don’t mind all that, I think it could be good, as long as it’s used well. I have loved every Dual Shock iteration so far, so I hope it doesn’t deviate to much.

The Specs
I’m not going in to much on the rumours about specs, but it does look like it will be a power house. It may also be more powerful than the new X-box. I don’t care to much about what machine is slightly better than the other. I just want the PS4 to be up to speed at least from the start, and not to difficult to program for which hurt the PS3 in the first years.

Games
There hasn’t been much leaks when it comes to the games. The interesting part is that we do not know what most of Sony’s 1st party studious are working on. Will we get Uncharted 4, Killzone 4 and Gran Turismo 6? I do know I’m eagerly waiting for February 20th and hope we get some answers then. It’s an exiting part to be a PlayStation gamer. That’s for sure, and it can be a lot more exciting when we find out more.

Dec 23 2012

Welcome to KittyGotWet Gaming Awards 2012. 2011 was a huge year. Not so much this year for the PS3, but the highlight for me was the release of PlayStation Vita.

Game of the Year: Rainbow Moon (PSN)
This game took me completely by surprise. It’s a 100+ hour platinum and I got this while being in a trophy competition so I planned to not play this as much as it would ruin the competition. I couldn’t. I played this game almost non-stop until I got the Plat and continued on afterwards. I haven’t played much games like this one, but there was something that just felt right with Rainbow Moon. I’m already looking forward to playing this again when it releases on PS Vita.

Best Multiplatform Game: Far Cry 3 (PS3)
Beautiful game world, great game play, when you’re not hunting pirates you can hunt animals. It has elements from Red Dead Redemption, but I like it even more here, as hunting animals are really useful in this game. The story is a bit cliche, but it is the game play and the game world that combines this into the best multiplatform game in 2012.

Best Handheld Game: Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Golden Abyss was great. It was Uncharted on handheld, and it also had some features that took advantage of the features of the Vita in a good way, with a few exceptions. I have completed this game 4 times already, which isn’t something I can say about a lot of games.

Most Anticipated Game of 2013: The Last of Us (PS3)
Naughty Dog is hands down my favorite developer. I remember when this game was teased a week before the reveal, I was a little bit interested. As soon as I saw the Naughty Dog logo, I knew this would be great. Everything since has just strengthened this feeling. I’m taking days off work when this releases. It’s going to be great.

Uncharted: Fight For Fortune Announced For PS Vita

Uncharted: Fight For Fortune

Bend Studio announced Uncharted: Fight For Fortune. It’s not your regular fullblown Uncharted experience, but an action-adventure turn-based card game. I have difficulties explaining this, but take a look at the video below.

It’s a standalone game, but if you’ve been a good hero in Uncharted: Golden Abyss, your collectibles from that game can be imported to Fight For Fortune. It also brings in characters from Uncharted 2 and 3 on PS3 and Golden Abyss from Vita.

The multiplayer is asynchronous, which means that those with 3G Vitas can play on the go without WiFi. I no doubt want another full blown Uncharted experience both on PS3 and Vita, but I’m very happy to be able to play this as well. I’m actually quite excited.

I platinumed Golden Abyss on Vita with the Japanese version of the game, so I’m gonna estimate I have to play the EU version in order to get the collectibles into Fight For Fortune, which I will do. Luckily however, that is not a requirement. This is a standalone game, and it’s not required to have Golden Abyss, but I can’t see people without that game having any interest in this one. This is a game for Uncharted fans no doubt.

Uncharted: Fight For Fortune will support trophies, and will release in early December. Enough time to blow through Uncharted: Golden Abyss a couple of times. If you haven’t played Golden Abyss yet, there is no better time to do so than now, as it will be free for PS Plus users when the PS Store updates tomorrow (US) and Wednesday (Europe).

E3 2012: Sony Press Conference Predictions

Jun 01 2012

The Sony E3 2012 Press Conference is only a few days away and like every year, I’m really exited about it. Here is my predictions for the E3 Press Conference. I will tally my own score after the Press Conference. Most of the points have more than one requirement. For example, if a trailer is shown for Last of Us, but it’s not played on stage and not coming out in 2012, it will give me 33%.

Last of Us
* A new trailer is shown
* Played on stage
* Comes out in 2012

Dust 514
* Trailer shown or played on Stage
* Companion app for Vita mentioned

Call of Duty Vita
* Call of Duty named and shown
* It’s Black Ops 2
* Releases in 2012

Assassin’s Creed Vita
* It’s Assassin’s Creed III
* Some sort of cross-functionality between the PS3 and Vita version

Bioshock Vita
* Named and shown
* It’s an exclusive

GTA Vita
* Game is announced
* Not released in 2012

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for Vita
* Announced for Vita
* Cross-play with the PS3 version

Monster Hunter Vita
* Announced for Vita

PlayStation Plus
* Different Tiers of subscription types
* The biggest ones include digital versions of Blu-Ray released titles
* Vita also supported

No Shows
* Warrior’s Lair
* Agent
* The Last Guardian

Keep in mind that these are predictions as opposed to a wishlist. I really want Warrior’s Lair and Agent to be talked about. What are your predictions?

Table Top Tanks - Trophy Guide

Table Top Tanks is the first PS Vita AR game to come with trophies. An AR games is a game that puts the game world in your living room so to speak. Table Top Tanks is a very easy game as far as trophies, but to get the final one, you’ll need a friend with a Vita. For the guide, head over to PS3Trophies.org.

My Sony E3 Wishlist

E3 | Posted by Pesico
May 25 2012

E3 is closing in fast now, and THIS is my biggest wishes for what Sony brings to the table.

Agent
It was E3 2009, Sony announced that Rockstar was working on a PS3 exclusive. Little more than the logo was shown, and little has been known since, except for confirmation that the game is still in development. At E3 2011, Jack Tretton was reluctant to confirm it was still a PS3 exclusive. Well, I want to hear more about it, mainly when it’s coming out.

Warrior’s Lair
This PS3/Vita dungeon crawler was announced during E3 2011, then known as Ruin. Information has been scarce for this game to, except for the fact that Idol Minds has been taken off the project, with Sony San Diego taking over the development duties. Not a good sign.

Last of Us
I want to know as little about the story beforehand, but I do wanna know one thing. A release date. I’m hoping for a holiday 2012 release date.

GTA Vita
Yup, I want a GTA game on Vita. Nuff said. I also want GTA 3 and GTA Liberty City Stories to be released as HD classics.

Monster Hunter
I have no idea what this game is about, but I want it to release in Japan so the PS Vita can take off over there. If the Vita can’t beat the 3DS, it should at least beat the PSP.

Retail Games on PSN
On the Vita, retail games are also released on PSN, for every game. I want that to start happen for the PS3. And for Plus owners, each and everyone of them should support 1 hour trial. The prices has to be better to. It doesn’t make sense to pay more for a digital release than what a physical one costs in a retail store.

Uncharted 3 DLC
I want more, and I want trophies for it.

Resistance: Burning Skies – Trophy List

May 03 2012

Gamed.nl have gotten the scope on the trophy list for Resistance: Burning Skies. The 1st ever FPS on PlayStation Vita. It looks like a very easy trophy list. The first hidden trophy could theoretically be tied to difficulty, but if it isn’t, it looks like one playthrough and some mopping up should be enough. It also has one online trophy, and all you need to do is to complete one round of multiplayer.

Fan Mail: How About a Nice Cup of Shut the Fuck Up

Fan Mail | Posted by Pesico
Feb 13 2012

Like every other famous games journalist out there, I get fan mail all the time. I figured I’d make a feature on the site for the more interesting ones. HafuGirl sent this on PSN to me. It was a message with a picture. Of course all in caps. It read:

“CONGRATS YOUR A DUMBASS”

Embeded was this picture:

After making all these blog posts today, I was very happy to get some fan mail, so I answered back as politely as I could (after checking that HafuGirl has 66 trophies and none of them are Platinums), I thought I should motivate HafuGirl to get some.

“Sweet. Thanks dude. It tasted really good. How about you go earn yourself a platinum trophy eh?”.

That’s was the first edition of fan mail. May there be many more.

PS: I do know I’m not famous, and I don’t really get much fan mail.
